Thoughtful design and engineering
Thoughtful design and engineering—certainly was some R&D done on these shorts. Hiking, tactical; or even with a polo for dinner. Try them.

Compromised, especially for the price.
I bought these on sale, so they were only $60 instead of the $80+ MSRP. Even still, I'm a little disappointed. I'll start with what I like: I like the cut, and the fit of these shorts, and the "crinkle" of the material feels nice. Now, here's where the disappointment starts: I just mentioned that the material feels nice, but it's wayyy too stretchy, especially for a loose fitting garment like these shorts are supposed to be. Compare to other hiking shorts like Patagonia Baggies or REI's hiking shorts, those are made of quick-dry material but not stretchy. I'm also frustrated that although there is a sewn flap on the front of the shorts, the fly is fake. The pockets have zippers, so Lulu clearly has access to zipper technology, so why not put one in the fly?? Feels like a cost-cutting measure. Also, personally, I don't really care about the side pockets having zippers, so I'd easily trade those two zippers for one in the fly. Another cost cutting measure: there's only one belt loop and it's very close to the center of the waistband. The built-in belt is suuuper long so you wind up with a foot of nylon webbing dangling in the front of the pants. Why not add another belt loop, or even two! My advice: take out the stretch, make the fly real, add two more belt loops, then these pants are 5 stars.

You’ve given us plenty to unpack with the UV-Protective Relaxed Hike Short 6". We’re glad the cut, fit, and crinkled feel hit the trail right, but we hear you on the stretch, faux fly, and belt-loop placement leaving room for improvement. Your thoughtful suggestions on where the design could go further are appreciated—we’ll carry them forward.

Great Shorts, Belt Needs a Second Keeper Loop
Great fabric, comfortable fit, and perfect for outdoor activities. My only complaint is the integrated belt. It needs a second keeper loop because the excess belt dangles below the waistband and even hangs below an untucked shirt, unlike the clean look shown in the product photos. Adding another loop would make these shorts much better.
