Rated 5 out of 5 by BikramJunkiesTK from Loved it so much bought one for the boyfriend Ive had mine for about two years now--im a very regular student in Bikram--the smell of the mat AT FIRST did not bother me because ALL YOGA MATS smell at first. So really--lets move on. I have actually stopped using a towel all together during class because my mat is all that I need--no slipping, no funky odors, NO COMPLAINTS--my boyfriend is receiving one as a gift from me as that is how convinced I am that this is the best mat for the money and even after two years of very regular use-my lulu mat is still going strong AF.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CMWest from Best Mat I'm not usually one to leave a product review, but after reading so many terrible reviews I feel like I have to share that this is the best mat i've ever had. Yes, you need to be careful washing it and it does have a smell when you first open it up (as does any new item), but I would not do yoga without my mat. In fact, I recently visited a new studio where they created their own mat and I wasn't allowed to use my mine. I actually left the studio after the first try of their mat and not allowing me to use my own. I've had my mat for 2 years and it's holding up great. I'd definitely buy another.

Rated 1 out of 5 by DMarie83 from Smells SO Toxic I hate writing a bad review - I usually love all my lulu products, but the smell of this mat is so awful. I've tried everything... soaking it, baking soda, essential oils - nothing will get rid of the burnt rubber smell. I've had the mat since December and I still feel guilty taking it to my practice because I feel like I'm smelling up the studio with fumes. I know I have a sensitive nose, but honestly my nostrils burn the rest of the day after using this mat. Lululemon - you need to take this up with the manufacturer. These units should be RTV'd.

Rated 3 out of 5 by kal222 from Loved it until I washed it. I bought my mat two months ago and have loved it ever since. I would wipe it down with some water and a towel after each practice and never had an issue slipping. I loved how my mat absorbed my sweat since I practice yoga 3-4 times a week in 85 to 100 degree temps. However, I recently decided to wash it for the first time since I have had it for awhile. I submerged it in water and lightly wiped it down with Dawn soap as recommended online. I waited 48 hours for it to dry and took it to class. Afterward, I noticed there is white dust underneath it now. I am assuming this is from the soap. Not only that, but while I was in class, the bottom of the mat was sliding on the floor underneath me. It kept slipping throughout class as if I was on a surf board, and I nearly fell over a few times. I pressed into the mat when I got home and could feel water in between the top and bottom layers. The only thing I can think of is that it still hasn't dried since I washed it, and the little soap I used is causing it to slip. I am not sure what to do to get it to completely dry since at this point it has been a few days since I washed it. I am infuriated that I slip during class since I loved this mat so much before washing it. I would not recommend it to a friend for fear that they would run into the same issue I did, and I haven't heard of a proper way to clean the mats from LuLu

Rated 3 out of 5 by eggroll from Baffled by white stuff on bottom I like a lot of things about this mat. My hands stick well, and I like the cushioning. After 4 months, there is still some odor, but not it's not a huge problem. What IS a problem is that the bottom gets covered with white powdery stuff. Dirt? Salt? Crud from the floor of the studio? I'll wash it, hang it to dry, and when it's completely dry, the white residue appears. I roll the mat up, and take it to the studio, and the white stuff leaves a spot on the floor. It's like this mysterious substance that emerges from the mat as it dries. Is this normal? I'll take a wet washcloth and wipe it down, but the dirt keeps re-emerging.

Rated 2 out of 5 by HelpThisYogi from I hate to love it I'm not super impressed with this mat. After paying around $70, I've used it a few times (some hot, some cold), and it still smells very strongly like chemicals and I find it collects every single piece of dirt on the ground. This is my first investment map and I came here to read reviews to see if other people were having the same problem with the smell. Not only that, but I've also found myself not being able to "stick" to my mat when in hot classes. Do you use the rubber side or the side with the cushion? After reading through a few reviews, multiple Lululemon employees have given different pieces of advice and both posts contradicted one another. I'm very confused on what the appropriate way to clean it is and would love to keep this mat for a long time. Yogis, does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Rated 1 out of 5 by Natalija from Chemical Smell Sadly when I bought this mat I noticed the smell was really strong and was drying on my skin. I washed it and got lots of suds out but the smell won't go and the feel on my skin is wrong. I've left it out in the rain now but think that Lululemon should create a much better product. With their strong brand they should be leaders in eco, non toxic mats!

Rated 5 out of 5 by KLMD from I'm loving "The Mat" I have used a lot of good, name brand mats, and "The Mat" is by far my favorite. The combination of stickiness, firmness, and cushion (yes! soft and firm), are perfection for me. I sweat profusely during yoga and this mat keeps me from slipping. Actually, because it is so sticky, I do need to use a Mysore rug for jump through on seated positions, but that is no problem since it's part of my practice anyway. I have noticed some small scratches on my mat that other posters have mentioned; however, I love it when my mats start to look slightly "broken in." It's a reminder of the effort and dedication I've put in to my practice and that makes me smile. Lastly, the smell was ridiculously strong when the mat first arrived, but was gone after the first week or two with washing and airing out. For me, this was a small inconvenience given how perfect the mat is for me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Aemh from Yoga mat Got this mat for Christmas. It is really comfortable. The smell is SO bad! I aired it out for a week outside and tried again. No help. After doing a class on this mat, I feel nauseous from the smell. Back to the store it goes. What a shame because it is really comfortable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Nudnik from That nasty stench! While I like the consistency and thickness of the mat, the stench is just so disgusting I cannot use it. It's been a couple of weeks and I've washed it amd washed it again... it still emits a strong and harsh smell. I've had other folks comment and then move away from me at the start of a class and that was the last straw... I can't believe that you can produce something that is so offensive to others! Disappointing.
