The Mat 3mm
I'd been thinking about buying a Lululemon mat for a long time and after a chat with a very nice salesperson decided to invest in the 3mm. Even after just a few days with the mat I'm disappointed. Although the thinness may make it easier to carry around, it is so thin that just trying to stretch, let alone make it through a class, was so painful. Furthermore, I found myself slipping all over. Perhaps I should have paid extra for the 5mm but I'm so far extremely disappointed in this mat. Usually I love lulu but this product is sub par.

Light colour stains easily
I bought this mat in a mint green colour a few years ago. I LOVE the colour, it's lightweight and easy to carry. I used this mat a few times for hot yoga and a very embarrassing and nasty looking sweat stain in the shape of my body appeared on my mat. I was very disappointed as I've always taken good care of my mat and clean it with warm soapy water after every sweat class and have never used a dark mat towel with this mat. I've tried everything to remove the stain and even purchased a mat cleaning spray but nothing seems to be able to do the job. Needless to say, I am very disappointed

not at all slippery
I wasn't sure whether to get the mat or the thin mat, but I liked the color of the thin 3mm one, plus its more lightweight, so I got it.. I have one lulu yoga mat at home also the 3mm but I think I got it like 4 years ago so it isn't this non slippery kind. I used it the next day in class without a towel, which I could never do with the old one, and I did not have any problems with it. On the contrary I actually find it way too non slippery :) No, seriously it is great and I feel like I finally got a yoga mat that I can rely on.. Oh and the smell is really not that bad.

go for the 5mm
I wanted to love this mat, as I was getting back into yoga after taking some time off and an injury. I received this for Christmas and can no longer use it because it is so thin. I am disappointed with the price of it and the thickness, I would advise to spring for the 5mm.

not the best
I just got this mat a few days ago, I was looking for a better quality mat and the girls at the store convinced me it was one of the best, especially for at home practice. I have found that this was not worth almost 60 bucks, it still seems to bunch up and I can feel all of my bones collapse into the floor with this. I was looking for something light weight and easy to take places but I can't stand thinking about all the pain its causing me when I am doing my practice. This was a big waste of money and I would not recommend this to anyone unless you're never on hardwood floor.

I have the mat 5mm, i got it as a gift about 3 years ago and i fell in love. I figured, hey it's time to buy a new yoga mat to really invest in my future... so i thought i would give the 3mm a chance 1. because its such a pain trying to fit my 5mm when I'm leaving practice in a hurry, 2. there weren't many appealing colors there so i decided with the surge color 3mm mat, 3. it was really nice holding something light. My first time using it was last Friday, it wasn't too bad, just i noticed it was more permeable, hence the 3mm, okay i was fine with that. then i noticed i was slipping a little more than usual and i was all over the place. i figured hey its a new mat, i need to get used to it. I decided to go back to my 5mm mat Saturday and Monday, then used my 3mm Tuesday and then again on Wednesday... if i thought Friday I was all over the place, these two days... i was more focused on me moving my mat going through my flow. I am a bit disappointed, I would not recommend this for hot yoga, I'll give it a try in my other yoga studio though. Still love lulu though

I like the grip, but wish I went with the 5mm
I bought the 3mm because I take the mat on the subway to class. The woman at the store recommended the 3mm, and said while it is thinner it is definitely thick enough. Unfortunately, I do not agree! Every time my ankle bones or head or hips are on the mat I totally lose my zen and all I can think about is how much I wish I went with the 5mm! I would rather deal with a heavier bag on the subway than feel my bones rub against the hard wood floor.
Also, it bunches sometimes, not sure if that would be true for the 5mm as well.
I also agree with the dirty looking factor. I have it in Navy and it looks almost like it has scratches on it since the first time I used it and I can only imagine it will get worse.
Overall, I like the grip even in hot yoga, but word to the wise - spring for the 5mm!!!

All over the place
The first time I used this mat I loved it, but after a few short weeks it started sliding all over the place. At first I thought that maybe it was the floor in the studio, but I've used it in several studios and it doesn't stay in place - a simple jump in and suddenly my mat is inches from my neighbor.
I wish that I loved it, but it doesn't cut it for me.

This mat is far from functional with yoga or basic workouts. I gave it two stars because they finally had something in my favorite color, army green. I say this mat is not functional because I can feel by bones grinding on the floor beneath the mat and it is very uncomfortable - I have plenty of meat too. I am returning this 3mm mat and going with the 5mm mat in black. Also, the reviews about seeing marks on the lighter mats is true for the dark army green as well. I can see my feet/toe marks and I only used it one time. Not a great product.

Great stickiness, allergic reaction
I bought this mat about a month ago to use as a travel mat, but loved how sticky it was and started using it as my regular yoga mat. It's amazingly sticky/grippy even in hot, sweaty vinyasa classes, and the 3mm thickness is fine for regular classes and easy to carry around. However, I have been getting a weird face and hand rash almost every day? and realized that it starts almost immediately after using this mat and happens only on the days I practice with this mat. I'm not allergic to rubber/latex, as I've always practiced with a Jade rubber mat. If there's something allergenic in the Lulu mat, there should be a warning on the label. I'm really bummed because otherwise it seems like a great mat? but toxic for my every day practice.
