Rated 5 out of 5 by ohio85 Great towel
I don't get the negative reviews on this towel. I am currently in yoga teacher training (200 hour) and I use this towel ALL the time. I have never had issues with slipping and I'm taking multiple hot yoga classes in a week (sometimes in a day - the towel dries quickly).
I think the best way to use yoga towels is this: I wait until I am actually getting sweaty to put it on my mat. I leave it folded at the top of the mat until we begin a steady flow and I start to sweat pretty badly. I quickly unfold my towel and spread it out and no slipping. My hands are already sweaty and they grip the towel perfectly. I've washed and dried it and it's fine. I also accidentally forgot one time and put a drier sheet in with it and it still didn't make me slip. It absorbs all my sweat leaving my mat nice and dry and ready for the next class. I like lying on a towel during Savasana (way more comfortable than lying on a sweaty sticky mat!). Hope this helps people on the fence.

I initially laid eyes on "the towel" in a bikram class. I saw this girl using a gorgeous teal towel with no stitching and fell in love. In another class, I saw another girl using the same towel but this time in pink. I waited 10 minutes outside the yoga studio to ask the girl with the pink towel where she got it from and she said "lululemon." duh! I've seen this towel online but didn't know it looked this good in person.
I almost did not purchase this towel because of the overall rating and some of the negative reviews. I asked a friend who owned one what she thought about it and she said she loves it so I went to purchase one in store.
My initial concerns and my experience with the towel:
1. Towel shrinking - I machine washed it in cold water and tumble dry low, didn't shrink for me
2. Smell - It didn't have any foul smell for me. I purchased a Manduka Eqa Towel and another microfiber towel and those came in the mail smelling really toxic. I had to wash those before using but the Lululemon towel was fine.
3. Slipping - I use this towel for Bikram yoga. I've practice 5-6 times a week and has gone through quite a few products. I usually judge a towel based on my ability to hold triangle and not fall into a split. This towel definitely kept my foot in place and it makes a world of a difference for my practice.
I'm definitely going to buy more. Sadly, they didn't have a lot of solid color towels to choose from in store and I'm quite hesitant to order it online.

I bought this towel online about a month ago and when I finally got the chance to use it, there was a foul smell to the towel that I noticed right when I sat down on my mat. I tried to stick through it, thinking I would just wash it later to see if the smell goes away. I ended up removing it from my mat, mid-class, because my hands and feet were sliding (more than they would with just using my mat). I tried bringing it to the store to get store credit so I could use that towards getting a new pair of pants instead. I had the towel rolled up the way it came but without the packaging around it. The employee told me in order to return it, I need to have the original packaging on it so that they can resell it. (Why they would want to resell a used towel is beyond me). Pretty bummed with this purchase and the customer service in the store. Waste of $.

When I bought this towel it fit perfectly on my 3mm mat, even slightly longer! After reading the reviews I made sure to hang dry after washing (after I took it out of the machine I compared it to my mat and it was still the correct length). Once the towel dried it shrunk drastically (about an inch). I washed it one more time and hung it to dry and it got even shorter!! I am extremely disappointed in this product. I have a feeling it will continue to worsen with each use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WCSunshine PERFECT for hot yoga! Heck any yoga!
I just got this in the butterfly print (sadly missed out on the Heather Hansen one- insert major tear face here). LLL have any to spare??
Not sure I understand the negative reviews on this towel. I practice various styles of hot yoga/Pilates and this baby does not slip/move and it fits my mat perfectly.
I have an 8 year old Manuka mat form LLL and this towel is perfectly sized, perhaps a smidge larger, but no issues at all during class. Also, my BEST towel is a 10 year old one from LLL that was made from bamboo
(Wish I had more of this one) and it's amazing.
Both the old and this new one are perfectly grippy (no I don't spray). Also, I always wash cold and hang dry. Never, ever, ever put a yoga towel in the dryer- I don't care what brand, or what claim, don't do it!! Unless you have money to flush, then go ahead and ruin to your hearts' content.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Luie Non slip mat for- perfect for yoga
Prior to using this on my yoga mat, I used a standard bath towel. Whilst ok in winter, during summer my hands and feet struggled to grip the floor. This mat has really lived up to expectations. My poses are now steady and comfortable. This towel is so light and very easy to fold up in my bag and go!

I use this towel for hot yoga and it does the job. For a relatively thin towel, it adequately absorbs the moisture from a 60-minute session that leaves my mat dry. It definitely does not keep still (which doesn't bother me much) and has a tendency of having a slippery grip once it becomes saturated in moisture. However, the slipperiness has not been severe enough to hinder my practice. I do not have to readjust the towel during every session, but it is occasionally needed. A plus about the towel is the suede-like surface, which just feels nice to touch.
I will admit, I do not carefully maintain my Lulu products as I'm usually advised to do so by the associates at the store. I'm not sure if it's because my washer/dryer are high efficiency, but I never had an issue throwing this towel (and other products) in the dryer. I put it in the hand-wash cycle to clean and in the "warm" setting to dry. I haven't noticed any shrinking and if it has, it hasn't been significant enough for me to notice.
Overall, the towel has it's pros and cons. After putting this product to use for 5 months of hot yoga, I would recommend it for my casual yogis who are not picky about the downsides (moves around & slipperiness) and just want a cute towel.

Rated 3 out of 5 by thepurist Beware - towel shrinks even if you hang dry
I received this towel as a gift. When I unfolded the towel for the first time and laid it down on my mat, it was a larger (length and width) than the mat. It was thin and had a slight suede feel to it. I was worried that it would be slippery but the sweat on my palms gave me enough grip.
I wouldn't say that I sweat buckets but I do sweat quite a bit during class and I didn't have a problem with the towel moving around or that I slipped during downward dog. Overall the towel was fine for me.
Where I did have a problem was after washing the towel. I washed in cold and I did not put it in the dryer .. The next time I put the towel down, it was noticeably shorter than my mat by a few inches.
but buyers beware .. Towel shrinks if you hang dry it.
im not happy about it but I'm stuck with a towel that is smaller than my mat now.

I use The Towel for hot yoga and one thing that it does and does well, is absorbs moisture. I also use it to help protect my mat, but since it's rather thin, it has a tendency to move around a bit.
When the towel gets soaked in sweat, it becomes a bit more slippery. I have a hard time holding a few positions because of that.
The one thing that bothers me the most is that it shrank in length, despite that it has NEVER seen the inside of a dryer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by tarochip Moves a lot in hot yoga classes
I normally use yogitoes towels, but decided to give this mat towel a try because the prints are adorable and they are lightweight. Like many other reviewers, in my hot yoga classes this towels sticks to damp feet and turns into a disheveled mess at the back of my mat as I move from one position to another. It's not a matter of concentration; it's a matter of discomfort! I tried to stick it out because I adore the cactus print that I ordered, but this towel is just not functional. It's a shame that lululemon is now only offering their house brand towel as the only option, otherwise I would happily purchase my yogitoes towels there.
