Not for hot yoga
I bought this mat for my fiancee to use in his hot yoga class. It was highly recommended to me by a salesperson in one of the NYC stores as a mat that would not be slippery and would be perfect for use during hot yoga. To say the least, he and I are both very disappointed in the quality of this mat. Not only is it very slippery, to the point of not being able to hold basic positions like down dog or warrior one, it also has an unpleasant odor. Also, during some poses, it stretched and did not stay stationary.I feel that further use of this mat could cause injury from falling or muscle strain from trying to maintain balance on an extremely slippery surface. Unfortunately for customers of Lululemon, there is nothing that can be done as Lulu does not stand by the quality of their products after 2 weeks. I am now left with an unusable yoga mat and out of $50.

Very Disappointing
Last night I used this mat for a warm yin yang class. I was very disappointed. This is the 4th mat I have used in my multiple years of practice. I found it terribly slippery and was unable to ground myself with confidence on this mat.

Don't get this mat if you practice hot yoga
I waited years to get a new mat, it's a big commitment and I thought I would give this a try! I liked the feeling and texture of the mat while I was in the store. Well, when I went to hot yoga and put my yogitoe towel on it, the ENTIRE class my hands and feet continued to slip, the towel kept moving, I was frustrated, and was cursing my mat (the opposite effect of what I was hoping for during my practice.) I never had this problem with my previous mat.
I gave it another try yesterday in a non hot class with no towel, and this time my hands continued slip a bit. It was better a better experience than the hot class, but I am still frustrated in general because I cannot return the mat.

grippy!
i've tried many different types of mats & this is my favorite & grippiest so far.
i have the 3mm so it's lightweight enough for me to carry around to teach & practice in various locations, and i don't like very thick, spongy mats anyway (so if you're looking for more cushioning, this is not the mat for you - try the 5mm instead).
i don't find the rubber smell too intense or bothersome, and i am very sensitive to smells. it's somewhat more natural than some of the other more 'chemically' smelling mats i've tried.
it's great on wood floors, but tends to slide a bit on carpets especially during a flowing, power-yoga style class (but not enough to really hinder my practice).

Great non-slip mat
Had my first workout on this this morning and it was great. The mat lived up to its promise of no-slip and no-slide. That is usually my problem when purchasing mats. I bought it in black so that it wouldn't show dirt and scuff marks easily. Just the right amount of cushion, too. A great all around, all purpose yoga mat for my workouts.

Disappointed
I thought this mat would be awesome because one I paid 50 bucks for it, two because it was LuLu Lemon. This mat is very slippery just doing downward dog. I have gotten mats at Target that are better then this! I would go else where.

just okay
I borrowed this mat recently from my local lulu for a yoga class. The mat was grippy until I began to sweat and then it became slippery. I think using the 3mm mat is okay but if given a choice, I think a thicker mat would be more preferable for camel poses and other poses where you are on your knees. I am sort of disappointed. This basically seemed like the align mat re-invented without the lines (although I liked having the lines on the align mat.) I think for non-heated/non-sweaty classes this would be fine. However, if you are going to sweat, prepare to bring a towel to put over your mat. This mat may work for travel, but serious yogis will want a mat with more support and better grip. I've tried "the mat" but it still is not as grippy as I'd like either.

Great mat if you don't sweat much!
This is a beautiful, well constructed mat--however, it is very slippery! Even if your hands are only slightly clammy, you'll be slip sliding around on this one! Love the colour (frond) and the style of this mat but had to return it in search for a more grippy mat!

fantastic mat, if you don't sweat much
The Pure Mat feels like pure quality, but there are a few things of which to be mindful.
If you practice any vigorous form of yoga, you will likely need a towel on top of the mat. The Pure Mat is closed cell rubber, which means it won't absorb your sweat, so if you sweat a little or a lot, you will slip.
If your practice is more mild, The Pure Mat is great. The natural rubber will provide plenty of grip and the texture is comfortable.
As for myself, I will be sticking with The Mat as my main mat, and I'll keep The Pure Mat as my yoga nidra mat, or one for a friend to borrow.
