disappointing towel mat
Similar to other reviews, this mat did great the first time I used it in a hot hatha class. I used it in class prior to the initial wash which is unusual for me... it was great in that class, just enough tackiness so my hands and feel didn't slip and slide. Went home and washed it cold on the large/bulky cycle on my machine (by itself) and dried it on low heat (by itself). It bothered me a little that it made my washer and dryer smell like rubber but I figured that was just an artifact of it actually -being- rubber.
2nd class I took this mat to was hot power yoga and this is where it started to fail. I couldn't hold any pose without either my feet or my hands sliding around. It was very uncomfortable but I stuck it out for that class.
The 3rd class was again hot power yoga and I almost walked out of the room due to frustration. I was all over the place on top of this mat... I couldn't hold any pose because my feet wouldn't stop sliding from behind me! I tried flipping it over to the all rubber side and it only got worse! I ended up kicking it to the side...
This is very unfortunate because after the class, the lady next to me complimented the encouraging words on my mat but she also noticed all my struggles during class so she recommended another brand to me.
Anyway, I've sent an email off to the GEC folks... here's to hoping I hear back from them.

Perfect for on the go
I love this mat for exactly what it was designed for, perfect to just toss in my bag when I'm on the go and don't have time or space to haul my regular yoga mat around. Found it a a bit slippery in down dog but all in all a very good mat to have as a spare.

Mat towel is really just a towel
This mat was the worst I have ever owned. It is super stretchy and kept bunching up during my hot yoga class. I tried to return it however, I was told to use it on top on another mat and it shouldn't be a problem... What? The point of the mat is to use it as a Mat/towel so you shouldn't need both. Super disappointed in quality and customer service :(

So disappointed!
This was my first yoga mat I have ever purchased and I could not be any more displeased. I was so excited to try this mat and for the first handful of practices it worked well. My last 3 classes were so full of distractions from trying to fix my mat the whole time, the last class I almost walked out on. I hope to find a yoga mat that is actually worth the money I spend, especially since this mat wasn't cheap!

Thought it cured all my hot yoga problems....
In fact, it wasn't the case. I actually loved this mat at first, had everything i was looking for. Brought it to class, i did not slipped or slide..cured me from falling and solved my sweaty feet and hands. But that feeling was shortlived, after a couple of washes, the grip part of where your hands and feet go was slippery and i could not hold my poses for very long. Not only was it distracting, it made a lot of noise when i did my flows. The mat would scrunch up as i move, ultimately kicking my mat aside.
I'm really disappointed because i actually bought 2 of them...thinking the first one was just a defect (since i got it on the "we've made too much" section). But the second purchase did the exact same. I also got a couple of my friends to purchase this mat because i rave how functional and practical it is. So, for anyone reading this review...do not purchase this mat. It's not worth the money and the distraction that it brings to your practice.

This mat is terrible!!! I tried to use it in Power Yoga & it was so bad that I had to put another mat underneath so it wouldn't slip and slide. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!! I'm sorry I wasted my $$ but I love LULU!!

A one time use...
So the first time I used this mat in my hot yoga class I found it to be amazing, however, every class after that I find it to be the worst mat I've ever invested in!
It smells horribly (like burning rubber) and even worse now due to sweat and heat. So I tried to wash this mat, and while this is a temporary solution to the stains and smell, it has made my mat slippery and useless in class. All it does is bunch and stretch out when doing specific poses, I end up slipping and having to re-adjust my mat every few poses which is very distracting to my practice.
I also have permanent grey coloured stains on my mat (it was originally pink) from my sweat dripping onto it and those have seemed to become un-removable.
Would never purchase this again.

IT'S THE ONLY MAT I USE!
I only do bikram yoga and I've used this mat since Christmas and I LOVE it. I goto yoga 3-4 times a week and wash it every time I go so I can't count how many times I've washed this and it's held up great. I do not use fabric softner in the dryer as I have in the beginning and I did slip but once I stopped using dryer sheet I have not slipped since.
My only complain is it does smell rubbery still but the benefit out weighs the rubbery smell. I just love the fact I have freshly washed mat every time I goto yoga. Please don't stop making this product!!

TERRIBLE
I did like it my first three classes, but after that all I do is slip and slide. It bunches and stretches, I spent all class readjusting the mat. I tried both sides that didn't help. Plus the mat stinkes I even washed and sprayed it down with lemon water. I only do hot yoga and would never recommend this to anyone. It was a waste of money.

Great for hot yoga!
I used this during hot vinyasa and bikram and loved it for both! It was very absorbent, stayed put during movement, and best of all- when I got home and felt sweaty I could throw it right into the washing machine! Now every time I use it I know it's super clean!
