why we made this

We designed this short specifically for women like us with athletic legs and thighs: cut generously in the leg to allow for maximum moveability. We made it out of lightweight, wicking Swift fabric so we can work up a sweat without worrying about catching a chill.

Adorable Shorts! I bought these in the bleached coral gros gingham and the dune gros gingham and love them both. They are great now that the weather is warming up. The patterned shorts are made from 2-way swift so they do not stretch as much and are a tad stiff but I don't mind that since it gives the shorts some structure. I found when I tried on the 4-way swift the indentation from the panty lines from the liner show through too much for my liking and this is not in a sheerness way. I personally despise panty lines and think they make even a fit butt look like its not in the greatest shape. The front of the short also rides up a little during my workouts but its not a deal breaker for me. I am not a distance runner so I have not had any chafing issues from the thicker fabric. The waistband is great and super soft - no muffin top either. I like the longer length. I have a pair of speed shorts and they are shorter which is fine as long as you are standing up! It's very difficult to do an ab workout with them on while not flashing everyone. I am 115 lbs, 5'4" and bought my typical size 4 in these. For me I am a 4 in the 2-way and the 4-way swift materials. I noticed some others size up in the 2 way stretch but that did not work for me. I would love a short that has the same type of shorts liner that is under the skirts that way there would be no panty lines and it gives better coverage when doing different types of activities. Also, the liner is slightly visible (i.e. sheerness factor) in the bleached coral colored shorts but I don't mind that so much - these are workout shorts and most people know that workout shorts have liners. Also not a deal breaker for me. I have also worn and washed both pairs several times and have had no issues so far. May 20, 2013
New fave Love the fit of these shorts! They are my new favorites. Plenty of room in the leg & seat. I am 5' 108# w/ a bit of a bootie & muscular thighs. Got these in the 4 & found the fit to be perfect. Would love to own a pair of these in every color. May 18, 2013
Different material The description says these shorts are made with lightweight, wicking swift material. However, they are actually a thicker, stiffer material. Still super cute, but very warm in hot weather. I have a few different colours in this style, and almost every material is different. Please have some consistency Lulu! May 17, 2013

I would own in every color... This is the best pair of shorts I have bought...they stay in place and don't ride up, the legs have stretch to them so for those of us with athletic builds they look great! I also love the waist line - it is so smooth and lays flat. My only complaint is there aren't more color options at my local store! Another plus is if you do wear them to do core work you aren't flashing anyone else in the gym - that is my biggest complaint with other shorts is they are great when standing but if you do lay down they tend to show more than I am comfortable with in front of others! LOVE these shorts! I recently bought these shorts for a ultra marathon and had to go back to buy 4 more. They are my go to shorts for running and for cross fit. I'm 5-8, 130 lbs and the size 4 fits perfectly. So comfy...no rubbing, no riding and very flattering on. I'm addicted! May 10, 2013
Great running shorts I own about 5 pairs of the speed run shorts and love that the groovy are longer but otherwise the same b/c although I like the fit I sometimes feel like the speed run shorts are a little too short on me. I do wish there was maybe a 3.5 inseam run short in between the speed & groovy. I didn't notice any chafing like some of the other reviews said. I will be buying another pair soon! May 10, 2013
the best - in black I have and love these shorts in black, so much so that I wanted to try another color. Like some of the reviewers are noting, the fabrics are NOT THE SAME! Black is soft, light, flowy, barely noticeable. The blue shorts were like cardboard, as described. I bought them without trying them on, not noticing the material until I got home. I had to return them; the only other color in the same material was white, but...ick. So, I wait, patiently for more colors but in the mean time the black ones RULE! May 8, 2013
Colors are Quite Off I just received a pair of yellow Groovy Run Shorts, and as soon as I opened the package, I was disappointed by the colors I got. The colors on the webpage are similar two warm yellow tones, but the actual shorts have bright sunflower yellow around waist and wish-washy cold yellow body. I live far from any Lulu stores, so I rely solely on the website. So disappointed!!! May 8, 2013
Comfortable and Breathable I love the length and material of these shorts. They are lightweight and adorable! They do ride up a bit and cause some chaffing, but most shorts do this unless they are spandex or some other tight-to-the-leg material. I put anti-chaff body glide on my thighs whenever I run in shorts and I never have problems. I really like these shorts overall. May 8, 2013
