The (Big) Mat
The Mat for real Men.
I've practiced yoga for about a year. Being 6'3" & 320lbs. a year ago; I sweat like no other and I still do. 2 different instructors from different studios suggested The Mat. 8 months ago I got serious with my practice, 6-7 classes per week, so I upgraded to The Mat. Wow, the difference was amazing. I cannot stand using any other mat, so now I even travel with this mat. In Fact my only regret was not buying The Big Mat in the beginning. God Bless my wife, she just solved that for me and my next practice will be on The Big Mat! Yes, I do sweat A-Lot. More & Faster than it can absorb. However, a towel solves this problem and makes my practice slip-free. My mat is never a concern, my practice is my concern. Traveling...2lbs or 7lbs...Yogi-up and go, you might get stronger! >practice=<smell. Clean with baking soda and water after every practice and hang-up to dry. Practice & clean everyday and the smell is gone in less than a week!

I'm 6'4" and fine the mat to be good for my size. I use this mat for hot vinyassa about 2-3 times per week. I've been using it for 8 months now, and am very satisfied with it. I sweat profusely while practicing hot vinyassa, to the point where I'm dripping non-stop for almost the whole 60-75 minute class.
A trick that I've found, is to get two towels (my gym provides shower towels) and lay them over the mat. I then drizzle 20 or so oz. of water over the towels to allow them to grip to the mat. This brings the sliding to a minimum, and allows me to focus on the practice instead of worrying about slipping.

life span too short
I bought this mat in november and finally used it in feb, was estatic at first about how wonderful it was, until about a month ago.. the mat no longer holds any kind of grip whatsoever. You slip, slide and the mat actually stretches with you now :( so sad that I thought I had finally found the perfect yoga mat... don't know if maybe the mat was a little short lived on it's life span or what...

I love this mat! Being a female and only 5?5 it?s a bit strange rolling this out at the gym BUT I have a thing with gym floors and feet so this is perfect!
I can stay on the mat at all times and not worry about slipping or sweat building up. If it does get to slippery I just roll out the big towel mat and that works perfectly. Overall this was a great purchase. My only complaint is it is a bit bulky and heavy but that?s to be expected given the size and it?s a bit thin.
For a while I was using this mat plus a ?Female Size? Lulu mat on top. I clean this mat mostly with a towel and hot water to avoid soap build up which can make things get slippery over time and have no issues.

Great mat, but only for non-sweat
I loved this mat when I first got it! However, there has been sweat stains that have not gone away after the first few times. Also, in the green color you can see every drop of sweat during practice...gross. Overall not happy with this purchase. It also moved a lot from underneath me during practice. BUT...I called lululemon and they made it right. I am returning this to get a free giftcard and will buy another mat. Free of charge for shipping!

Excellent Big Mat
I am a big guy (6'3") and this mat is perfect for my size. Not having to worry about parts of my body slipping off the mat helps maintain better focus on my practice. I also find the mat has great stability and I feel that I have a firm footing to do my practice. As to the sweating issue raised by others. I do hot yoga and I sweat buckets during practice. Yes, without a towel, this mat like every other mat I have ever used is slippery. However, this mat excels when used in combination with a towel. Other mats I have used, the towel would start moving and slipping during practice. Not the Big Mat. The towel and mat are like one piece and there is no slipping at all.

Too Slippery For Hot Yoga!
I love the SIZE of this mat, but during hot yoga (and it's not even a bikram class), I can barely stay in downward dog. My feet start slipping only about 10 minutes into class, it's incredibly frustrating.
It'd probably be ok for non-heated classes, and I do use it for pilates. It's nice that it offers two different textures - though the no-slip side obviously isn't working for me.

product did not perform for this yogi
I purchased the The Big Mat, color: black size: ONE SIZE sku # 3482705 along with a mat strap. I am a tall male who practices hot yoga numerous times each week. I was under the impression that your mat was designed for hot yoga. I have followed your instructions very carefully, I washed the mat in mild soap and allowed it to air out for the first week. After each practice I wipe with mild soap and rinse off with plain water then allow to air dry. The first time I used it has been the only time that I have been satisfied with this mat. I am only using it only once a week to allow it to dry completely out. I have a vigorous practice of five sessions per week and sweat profusely and cannot use the "Big Mat" in my daily practice. I have slipped and have had the mat move from under me during a hour and a half practice. I am extremely unhappy with your product and would not recommend to anyone who practices hot yoga regularly and sweats.

Didnt work for me
I somehow have not been able to get this mat to work for me. I'm 6'1, 210 lbs and sweat PROFUSELY. I've been doing yoga for a couple of year now, and about 3 months ago "graduated" to doing power yoga. I needed a mat that did not cause me to slip, and my wife, who also uses a Lulu Lemon mat recommended that I invest in this, as it would help me big time with my yoga practice.
Well, after about a month of trying this mat, I must say that I cant get it to work. I tried all possible things - using both sides of the mat and having a wet towel to rest my hands on. Moreover, since I am not the most graceful yogi where I can transition/flow seamlessly, the transitions from plank to forward fold and getting into any of the warrior poses cause folds to appear on the mat and for air bubbles to form between the floor and the mat, which is disruptive at best and dangerous at worst. In about 20 mins there is a ton of sweat, and I end up slipping, both on my palms and my feet when I flow get into tree/airplane poses. I have to constantly wipe the sweat off the polyurethane side. I tried reversing the side, which absorbs the sweat no doubt, but then because it oozes out and causes me to slip when I am in plank or down dog.
Nothing against the sales woman who sold me the mat, but I specifically asked her about 5-6 times on whether she was sure that this would work with me because I sweat so much, and she assured me it would. Unfortunately it has not worked.
I hope LuluLemon is able to come up with a solution for people like me and have a product out there that works.
I must say though, getting this mat has certainly made my yoga practice MUCH better. As long as I don't slip, I am able to do the poses much better. I used to have the cheap mats before, and it was not the same. My knees and ankles used to hurt when I sat in Virasana on other mats, and the thickness of the mat make it very comfortable for me to sit in this pose for an extended period of time.

Im 6'5" and new to yoga. I rentened mats at first, but the length was a problem. I've found this mat to meet my needs quite well. There is a smell to it at first, but it's really not an issue anymore.
