5 stars except for the waist band issue!
I love my first pair of these shorts (in navy). They fit me much better than the speed shorts but are still short and lightweight, which are key for running/surviving in the Alabama heat. It's not often I pay full price for lulu, but after my experience with my first pair of these shorts, I knew I had to have another pair. I didn't want to risk waiting around for them to go on sale and for them to not have my size. I picked up a second pair, in pink/flowabunga. I experienced the same issue other reviews are mentioning with the pointy waistband. I went in to my local lulu store, and fortunately they let me exchange it. I got the same size/color, hoping that I had just gotten a bad one. I tried them on in the store, and, at the time, I couldn't tell if they had the same issue or if they were okay since my hip was already bruised/chaffed from my other pair. Now that my hip is healed up, I've tried on the new pair, and the issue is also there on my replacement pair :( I didn't take the tags off yet, and it hasn't been two weeks yet, so I'm hoping they will let me exchange it one more time? Although I LOVE my other pair of these shorts, I don't want to risk getting another bad one, so I'll probably stick with speed shorts, at least until this gets sorted out. Super bummed because these shorts fit so much better than the speed shorts! For sizing, I am 5'1, 125lbs with muscular legs and the 4 fits great (I'm between a 4-6 in speeds).

super summer running short
I'd rename these to "coolest cool" short. It's been melty hot in Seattle so I bought these to help battle the heat. Best decision Ii've made this summer. They are so light you forget you're wearing shorts at all. They fit slightly on the large side for me, which is great because the wasteband also seems to not exist when I run, but the shorts are still tiny, cute, and flattering. And whoever said there were no pockets, check the back left panel. There is a small zippy pocket there. I put my key in it when I ran the other day. I bought these in the pink floral and they still seem to look great with all my running tops.

Rash from clear plastic thing poking me
I love these shorts. I already own 3 of them. They are so stretchy and super comfy!
I purchased last week and never worn them until today.
It turns out, there are couple of clear plastic looking strings poking from inside of the waist belt. (defect i guess?) I now have a rash on my outer upper thigh.
I need help to exchange these shorts cause they're so comfy I don't want to get it refunded.
My other two are fine except just one.
Please help lulu...........

amazing shorts for athletic body
I have a very muscular body with a butt and these shorts are perfect! They are different from other Lulu shorts I have tried because I don't have to get a size up to fit my muscular legs. The extra room allowed me to buy my true size so it fits my waist and butt. Keep these coming!

Review for green camo
Nice shorts overall, but green camo fabric is shinier and thinnner than on identical speed shorts...didn't work for me as it was puffing around my already significant behind, shorter length showed my cellulite too much. Therefore, I returned them and kept the speeds
I would recommend them to slim runners that have legs to die for:)

Very happy with the Hotty Hot Short
Like many of the earlier reviewers, I have been running in and loyal to LLL?s Speed Short for a very long time. I haven?t been interested in any new short for running until the Hotty Hot Short. This short is excellent! I find them so comfortable that I forget about them. I can also see wanting more of this short and moving on from Speed Shorts.
I bought size 4 and also tried size 6 (am between 4 and 6 for Speeds, lately you never know with that short). For reference, I am 5? 5?, 125 lbs. The 4?s are completely comfortable and not tight at all. The 6?s on the other hand, were pouf city and I did not find that pair flattering.
The Hotty Hot Short is so light and the liner is comfortable. I have not experienced any chafing and they didn?t ride up. I like the low waist; it?s actually lower than that of the Speed Short. The overall short length is shorter than Speeds. Before purchasing I thought they might be too short for me, but I feel comfortable and decent. As for the drawstring, you just have to tie the bow pretty firmly, otherwise it comes undone during your run, and that?s annoying. I didn?t have to fidget after ensuring it was firmly tied. My only complaint about the short is the size of the back, outer pocket. It would be nice if it were just slightly bigger. On a really long run, it would be handy (if larger) for gels/nutrition bar. Also, I always take a LLL gift card pouch with me: it contains any or all of bank, credit, and coffee cards, and a bit of cash (after a run it?s not unusual for me to have some planned or unplanned errand right close to home. Carrying the cards/cash is also important in case of an emergency or need to take transit home). The pouch dimensions are bigger than the short's zip pocket. I like using the pouch so the items are more secure, don?t flop around or get sweaty (pocket does fit cards not in the pouch; Speed Short back pocket accommodates the pouch). I also think the small, inner back pocket could be a little longer: my house keys don?t feel totally secure in it.
Other than that, I really like the shorts! I bought the all black version. None of the other versions appeal to me. Navy and wee are from space versions would be nice. If I have anything else to add as I wear the shorts more, I?ll update with a comment. I hope the attached pictures are useful.

LOVE everything...except the itchy waistband
I used to be in love with the speed shorts till the new design where the back of the short is about 2 inches longer than the front (why ruin such a great thing lulu??) The hotty hot shorts are AWESOME except that there is something under the waistband on the left side of the short the itches my side like crazy? I have to pull up my underwear on that side just so there is a barrier between the short and my skin which is annoying. I thought maybe it was just my pair since I read all of the reviews and no-one else has mentioned this however I purchased a second pair in a different color and I have the same issue. There is nothing sticking out of the band so what is causing this?

Lack of pockets = 4 stars
I love these shorts! The only negative is the lack of pockets in the waistband. Please make these a staple item vs. seasonal.

perfect for people who are muscular
I normally only buy the "longer" shorts at lululemon since I have an athletic built with a butt. (5'5 125 pounds) I normally do not like how tight they feel on my thighs and butt, but these shorts are seriously amazing. they fit my legs just right. I plan on buying more.

I didn't think any short could compare to Speeds
I am a huge Speed shorts fan, been wearing them for several years and own maybe 20+ pairs. I didn't think I could possibly like a pair of running shorts more than my Speeds. But all the great reviews on these shorts got me interested and the new angel wing polka dot print was too cute to pass up.
I'm really liking these shorts so far. A few things I like about these better than Speeds: 1) the leg openings are wider, 2) they have reflective strips at each side, 3) they fit just as short but a tiny bit looser for more comfort, 4) the rise seems a little higher and I like that better to prevent muffin top.
Some things I was worried about: 1) I don't typically like elasticized waists but these are very stretchy and comfortable, 2) I usually don't like drawstrings on the outside of my shorts so I just tuck them inside the shorts.
Wish these had one extra pocket though. For long runs, I sometimes take a gel and a packet of beans. These may not hold both comfortably.
Overall, I like these shorts a lot. I am looking forward to getting a few more colors or prints. If you like Speed shorts, you will probably really like these. Comfortable fabric, great fit, flattering.
