Disappointed. Does not last!
Bought the black colour for my husband. He instantly fell in love with the fit and fabric (which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1). The colour faded a lot within the first 6 washes. Since then it has started to develop holes! It's only washed twice a week and he's owned it for about 4 months. Definitely won't last even close to 5 years.

After 1 year it looks 5 years old
The shirt has piled so bad after 8 months of hardly wearing it that I only can wear it around the house. I have the long sleeve version as well with the same results. I'm very careful with my clothing. I have $20 basic tshirts which have held up 10x better.
I don't understand how my 5 year old lulu lemon clothing still looks like new, has thick material, and my new lulu clothing looks worn out so quickly and is of very poor quality (very thin material).
The fit is great. At least the version I bought. Now to bring back the quality they had 5 years ago without raising prices even further. $54 is steep for a basic shirt that piles up so quick.

an amazing tee...but HOLES?!
I'm a big fan of Lululemon...and I've purchased these basic tee's for my husband for a few years. Lately, the most recent ones I bought (just earlier this year) have developed holes! It's extremely disappointing...though he's asked me to pick him up a few more, i'm hesitant. I don't think a well made tee that's washed and hung dry with other clothes should turn out like this. Especially when everything else in the wash is just fine.

First off I LOVE these shirts, they are really soft and stretchy! There is one major flaw that I have found with these shirts, no matter how you wash them (i.e. cold water gentle cycle and hang dry) they get holes in them after even just one wash. This never happened to the 5 year basics from even a year ago. Even if you wash them with just Lululemon clothes this still happens.

Has the potential to be the best...
I now have 8 of these shirts because they seem to be a better fit for anyone in remotely good shape. All of the rest of the brands that I've tried are too tight in the chest, too short, or too ballooned in the waist. The 5 year tee is the closest I've found to perfection being that I'm in the gym 5 days a week and wearing one nearly every day. The fit in the chest is solid, not too tight and moves with you. The length is good, but my only complaint is the slightly wide waist. For a shirt designed to fit athletes who are in shape, I've found the waist to be a bit wider than desired in most of the shirts. Lulu needs to re-evaluate and fix this in order to fit their target audience and justify the $55 price; would give 4 stars if it weren't so expensive with a design flaw. Please fix this!! Get the waist right and this is hands down 5 stars.

for everyday use, the 5 year basic T is the most comfortable t-shirt I've ever purchased. I use the small as an undershirt and the medium with my jeans or lululemon pants. I love the length .... it's not to short when I use it as an undershirt.

Very comfortable and stylish, but it does fade.
I purchased a 5-Year Basic Tee (black) one year ago to the day. I'll get the one negative aspect of this item out of the way first: The shirt did fade with the first wash, but since then it hasn't faded at all and the color is still "black." I am a Pilates instructor and yoga practitioner and I absolutely LOVE this shirt. I am 5'9" and 200 pounds; this shirt fits wonderfully and does not stink after the first hour or two of exercise, to include hot yoga. The tailored cut is roomy. The shirt length allows for modesty throughout all imaginable Pilates and yoga movements; for an instructor, this is definitely a plus for enhancing the professional atmosphere in a training environment. I wish there was a "Very Good' overall rating because the 5-Year Basic Tee is definitely better than "Good." It's just that the initial fade is quite startling.

Great shirt...super soft...great quality
I now own about 8 of these shirts...ALL BLACK. I typically don't wear anything else on weekends! These shirts have held up amazingly well, especially after multiple washings. They don't stretch out, lose their color.
I think the fact that i own 8 says it all!

Lulu needs to get its mojo back
I bought these shirts for years. They used to be perfect for vinyasa yoga: lightweight and close-fitting without being too tight. Over the last couple of years, however, the design and materials have changed practically every time I've looked at them, and not for the better. When I was in the shop the other day these shirts were too heavy, ridiculously long, and floppy. If it weren't for the price, they would be hard to distinguish from the basic Gap t-shirt. Lulu's recent inability to produce a good basic cotton t-shirt, the constant, inexplicable decisions to redesign formerly good products (like the Light-As-Air short) and to discontinue others completely (like the hot yoga shorts) lead me to believe this company has lost its way. I guess I'll just have to keep wearing my old gear until it gives out, or Lulu comes to its senses, whichever happens first.

5 year didnt last two years
I love these shirts but I have bought 5 in the last two years and three have holes all in the middle chest area. I washed them appropriately and nothing was from any activities that I was participating in. For over $50, I was expecting a lot more and although I love the brand the longevity doesn't seem to be there so I plan to avoid in the future.
Will post pictures.
