The Un Mat
Good for Bikram if you Commute
My Bikram studio is between work and home so I commute with a mat some days. This is a great mat for that purpose. I had been commuting with the mat and while it worked like a charm in the hot studio, it also weighed a million trillion pounds to carry long distances. I have used this mat for Bikram class and found that it performed well. I use a towel over it and with this set up it works like a charm. I would not recommend this mat for other yoga practices where there are a lot of poses that have you on your knees.

This mat is the worst
This mat is the absolute worst. I bought it at the Bethesda store where the associate assured me it was a fabulous mat for hot yoga. I've used it in hot yoga several times and it slides all over the place as I move between postures. I practice at Down Dog hot studio right down the street from the store and the associate knew the environment of where I was practicing.
I was initially attracted to this mat because it is thin and light and I like to be able to easily carry my mat on metro or on a bike. That said, those benefits do not outweigh how terribly this mat performs when things get slick in a hot yoga class.
I'd love to return it since it doesnt come close to providing what I thought it would when I purchased it (i.e. a mat that would stay put when I did hot yoga on it) but no longer have the receipt.

My First Mat
I didn't think much of this mat in the first place due to the fact that it was handed out for free at the end of a Lululemon sponsored 13k I ran last fall. However, I soon realized that they sold this product in store too, it wasn't just an overflow product simply being disposed of. As I began to branch from running into yoga, I put my new "unmat" to use. I now practice yoga sculpt and power vinyasa regularly. This mat worked for me at first, but then I realized that if I move my feet or hands quickly, or deepen a stance, the mat slips. It stretches and loses its grip on the floor. This problem sometimes inhibits me from successfully holding a posture. Wish I knew how to fix this because I doubt Lululemon would release this product with a problem such as this!

this mat is so amazing! i haven't slipped once or even come close to slipping! this was my first lululemon mat so i wasnt sure what to expect but i was blown away! this mat is super lightweight and very portable, and its still easy to carry around without a mat strap! there is a funny smell but it goes away after a while. (the smell is from the natural rubber in the mat) keep up the good work lululemon!

I have had this mat for a little over 4 months. At first it held up great, but now when I do yoga my feet slip. I am very annoyed with my mat. It is also embarrassing when my feet slip out from under me. My mat also has sweat stains on it. I will not be buying another mat.

versatile mat for all types of practice
I have had this mat for about two years now. I initially bought it to use over a mat i had bought when I was a beginner that was getting slightly worn out. However, I found that the Un Mat by itself was ample thickness to get my through practice. This is just a personal preference as I prefer and don't mind the hard floor when I move through my asanas. I've used the mat for all types of practice -- bikram, ashtanga, power vinyasa, yoga sculpt-- and even sometimes when i'm at home and doing the P90x videos. The UN MAT has awesome grip -- i use either side of the mat depending what i'm doing, and super easy to clean. Just careful when you clean to use a natural cleanser, as any alcohol based cleaner will mess up the grip on the mat. During hot powerflow i put a yoga-towel over the mat, and the grip is still awesome. THIS MAT IS A WINNER!

Best Top Mat
I really love this mat!!!
I'm been using my Un Mat for over a year and it has held up excellently. I use it over top of my Align mat (disconntinued style) as I felt I wasn't getting enough traction with that mat and this is excellent over top for grip.
Personally I find it okay to use by itself as long as we aren't on our knees constantly because of lack of padding and it gets uncomfortable.
Another bonus is I've lent my mat underneath to my mom when she forgots her mat so she doesn't have to rent a dirty mat from the yoga studio

Like Mat So Much, Bought Two in Different Colors
I thought I wanted The Mat, but when I saw the Un Mat in the store, I realized I could use it on top of the thinner, foamy mat I already had. So that's the one I use on the go, and it's been great in a variety of yoga classes. I just got another in a different color to keep at home to use on top of my beat up old mat and outdoors on the deck.
I pretty much like everything about it: the way it doesn't slide and stops me from sliding, easy to clean, lightweight, colors (buy what you want before it sells out), size, value. On the thinness, I think that's smart. Most of us have a cheap old mat, and it gives that added life. Or use it on top of a studio mat. But also, when doing balance poses, I simply move the Un Mat off on its own to better feel the floor and for grippiness. There is a lot of, well, flexibility. It's absolutely true that it's improved my practice.
So glad to get rid of mat towels. I just keep a hand towel on the side. I didn't think it had a bad odor when new. On staining and all, I have medium colors and haven't found it a problem. I much prefer its smooth surface to the porous natural mats that are popular now, but my hands and feet are quite sweaty. That part of things is individual.
In short, I've tried all sorts of mats and have been practicing off & on for decades. I looked around for the right mat for a long time and am quite fussy. But this Un Mat is the mat for me. Again, I like it so much, I bought two in different colors. So I expect these are the last mats I'll buy. I look forward to them becoming ragged and beloved with age.

Great Minimalist Mat
I really like feeling the floor for most of my daily practice and consequently use it by itself frequently. I also use this mat for outdoor practice so my skin doesn't get irritated and I have some really great traction in asanas where it is necessary.
It has been extremely durable and I haven;t slipped once while using this mat. I don't even use the extra texture on the back but find it gives the mat a lot of grip on the floor (particularly on the polished gym floors where I go to class).
It cleans very easily and the lack of the foamyness and large pores makes it feel much more sanitary.
The mat does absorb oils from your skin and sweat (a good thing I think) so if you are self conscious about this sort of thing, you might want to look at another mat.
Some people are reviewing that this mat is too thin. It is what it is. It can be stacked with other mats (to give your cushy mat more friction), used outdoors (in a grass field) or by itself (if you like feeling the floor). I feel that it is the perfect amount of cushion for me during most of my practices.

A Great Mat
I love this mat! It is very lightweight and easy to carry. I sweat a bit in yoga class and it does not get slippery at all. It comes in a variety of lovely colors at the store, and I purchased it in pink. As other reviewers have mentioned, it does show some sweat spots and faint imprints from pressure, but in the store they said that would happen. The sweat dries out, and it still looks great. The only downside is that it is very thin, but that is how it was designed. Overall, a great mat.
