The (Big) Towel
the yoga answer to tall people's prayers
I need to post a "Big" Mat review, but first off, if you are over 5'9", quit messing around on small mats. They are not good for tall people. Male or female. You need room to grow, especially as you become more flexible. I see tons of tall people compromising their practice because their mat is too small. I am embarrassed to say I didn't learn about "tall" mats until I stumbled upon my first "longer" mat at REI. I went from smallish no-name mat to a 72", then to a 78" and then by a happy accident, I forgot one of my many mats and my studio sells Lululemon products. I had thought for a long time the 84" was wayyyy tooo long for me. I am a 6'1" woman and it is perfect! The towel is the only one I can find, anywhere, that fits this mat. I like the towel but really wish that Lulu didn't size-discriminate with colors. These are all neutralish to traditional male colors. No cute patterns. No pink. Nothing feminine. As a super-tall woman, I like to wear feminine colors and use mats and towels that are colorful as well. I went from having pink, purple, magenta and "splash" colored towels to a dull palette of colors that kinda stinks. Lulu, will you please make some girl colors??!!! Thank you!

Not worth it :(
I love the colors this towel comes in and when I first got it, the feel. However after a few washes, it started to get rough and unfortunately it has never stayed in place. Maybe this towel might be good for yoga when you are just holding poses but any type of vinyasa or hot yoga, it just moves all over the place.

I have had this towel for almost a year and am very disappointed. It was a bit slippery the first time I used it. I washed it a few times and it helped a bit. After about two months it became more slippery than when I first bought it. Also it bunches up a lot more when changing yoga positions. The only thing that helps is if I pour water all over the mat and gets good traction. The mat does absorb water so the traction doesn't last more than 30 minutes. It may work better for hot yoga but it doesn't work for hatha or power yoga. Putting a yoga strap on top of the towel does help for added traction.
I do like that I can wash the towel after every session. But it doesn't out weigh all the other issues I have experienced. I find its more of a hassle to fix the towel from bunching and worry about slipping. I would not recommend it for anyone that does hatha or power yoga. I own other lululemon products and like them.

The perfect towel!
I am a huge hot yoga fan and this towel is perfect! I find I don't have to worry about slipping around. This way I can really relax and get the most from my yoga sessions. I also love that it's easy to wash and keeps my yoga mat a little cleaner.

Best towel EVER!!!!!
I started hot yoga so on the advise of the staff at the facility, I purchased their brand of towel. It was big, fluffy and expensive. A perfect beach or bath towel. But when it came to hot yoga it was useless. I was sliding all over the place. Then someone recommended this towel. I was hesitant at first because I had just paid $55.00 for a towel that was useless for hot yoga but I needed one so I decided to spend the money and buy this one knowing that Lulu stands behind their product. Well I don't regret it. Granted it's not thick, soft and absorbent but thats why you have your smaller sweat towels.

I've been struggling with a slippery mat for a while now during hot yoga and decided to purchase this towel. I've used it for about a week now and I've been super disappointed with it. This towel does not provide me with any additional grip. If anything, it's more slippery than my mat. It only provides me with grip once it's soaked. I'd constantly have to fold the towel down and just use my mat for the most part of the class since I can't even hold a downward dog with it on. I've been a fan of lululemon for years but this product is really disappointing.

Big but extremely slippery
The only good feature about the 'big' towel is it covers the 'big' mat. The towel is so slippery that you cannot do simple poses like downward facing dog without your hands and feet coming out from beneath you. A solution is to completely soak the mat with water for grip, but this is a bit silly, especially when the big mat by itself is so very nice and grippy. Currently have to fold the towel so I can put my hands on the big mat for grip, and sweat falls in the middle on the towel. I will be buying something smaller that will provide proper grip so that I can safely do yoga - even if it doesn't cover the big mat fully.

More of a sheet than a towel
Looking at the photo on the website it appears much more thick and towel like. I was disappointed to find it was very thin and sheet like.

I wasn't expecting to love this towel based off reading some of the reviews. I have 3 yogi toes and this towel. The "big" towel is by far my favorite. It doesn't slips when super wet (I sweat a lot) and its thinner which I like. Overall I was really impressed with this towel. Ill be buying more!

I used to use a non lulu towel with sticky things on the bottom...The Lulu towel and mat combo is awesome for my hot yoga practice.
I recommend going in early a lay in shavasana and getting your sweat on a little....the traction is best when it's a little damp.
