The Towel

Don't be nervous, this towel was designed to combat sweaty palms.

why we made this

We get sweaty palms for plenty of reasons. Trying a new yoga pose shouldn't be one of them. We designed this towel out of absorbent, grippy microfibre so we can kick up into handstand without slipping. We made it long enough to cover an entire yoga mat in case we have to borrow one from the studio.

key features

  • absorbent and quick-drying for your sweaty classes
  • slip-resistant so you don't involuntarily do the splits
  • the microfibre provides a soft, absorbent layer between you and your mat

tech specs

  • designed for: yoga
  • fabric(s): microfibre
  • dimension: 71" long x 26" wide

The Towel 2.9 5 45 45
Love this towel! I picked up this towel at my local lulu after I just started heated vinyasa classes and immediately understanding the necessity for a mat towel. I use a manduka mat (a gift from the man friend) for practice 3-4 days a week and have not had any of the problems others have mentioned. I find that it when in warrior 2 it stretches, but I have never had it bunch up or slide to a point of being unusable. I do dribble a little water on the front and back to keep it secure, but Ive noticed MANY people in class do that with towels from other manufacturers as well. I find it absorbent for my very sweaty vinyasa classes and have no complaints there. My mat is pretty grippy and its possible that they just work well together. I like it enough that I intend to buy it in another color. Thank you lulu for this affordable option! So many others in the market retail for $50-60. For my practice, this is just right. June 4, 2013
False Advertisement Worst investment I've ever made. As a first time lulu lemon customer I was hopeful to be inspired and a fan of my purchase. My experience couldn't be farther from that. First off, 10min into my Bikram Class 'the towel' turned into an ice skating rink. I was slipping all over the place. Fortunately I have been practicing for a while and caught myself from seriously being injured. I decided to push through to the second half of the class, for the floor postures figuring it would only get better, right? Wrong! My hands were slipping and sliding. I literally had to leave the class because I couldn't hold a single posture. I am honestly surprised you guys havent been sued for claiming this supports better grip. You're better off pouring olive oil on the floor. Will probably never buy anything from lulu again. Sorry for the awful review. But its simply the truth. June 3, 2013
Not What I was Expecting I have recently become very into hot yoga and was very excited to try out a towel for my mat. I was debating between the Lulu brand and another one. After buying it I realized it was not what I was expecting. I practice about 6 days a week) and the towel constantly moves. When I go into my downward dog I constantly have to fix the towel before I can fully go into that pose. It is a bummer that you have to worry about your towel and not on your practice. It is also like that with other poses. It is a disappointment because I love Lululemon products and this was the first time I was not fully satisfied and I can not return it. May 31, 2013
Can't understand reviews. I love it! Works GREAT! I used this towel for the first time today in my hot yoga class, pairing it with my new Lululemon Pure Mat. When I unfurled onto the mat it stuck immediately. In fact I had to pull it off to readjust it and it felt like it had a million little suctions underneath. I never slipped once and I never had to straighten or readjust this towel. I am thinking that another reviewer could be right in that it might matter what mat you stick it onto, because I can't understand why it wouldn't work for others. I also did not have to wet my towel down, like I normally do. I am a big sweat-er and I felt in absorbed well. It is so soft to lay on as well. Very pleased to have shelled out for this towel. :) May 31, 2013
useless mat I bought this mat yesterday (and stupidly another) whilst in NY from a visit in London. I went to the store on the Upper East Side in the 80s. When I asked for a mat that is of towel fabric on one side and grips on the other for a bikram class I was going to attend, I was recommended this mat instead. I was told that it absorbed sweat and would stay in place. Contrary to the other reviews here, I found that this mat failed to do both! Unfortunately for me, in my belief that this would perform as suggested, I've thrown out my receipt thus cannot return them. Seriously, if you want a mat for bikram, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS MAT. sadly disappointed :( I am a huge believer in all things Lulu, but unfortunately this towel doesn't quite do it for me. While the price is pretty reasonable in comparison with some of the other towels out there, this towel doesn't do the job. I use The Mat for yoga with the towel on top, but this towel never stays in place and ends up in a heap in the middle of my Mat. Also, once it starts to get sweaty, it gets super slippery. Granted, I sweat a lot during my classes, but I usually can't go more than ten minutes in without the towel bunching up. I have only had mine for about a month or so (maybe 20 ish yoga classes), and I was hoping that it would be able to hold up much longer than that. :( May 29, 2013
Buying More I have struggled to find a towel for my bikram practice. This towel is GREAT!!! Very reasonably priced as far as non-slip towels go. I was able to go deeper into poses without fear of slipping. I plan to buy 3 more in various colors. May 19, 2013
Super Slippery This is seriously a terrible yoga towel. While I found it to be absorbent and didn't have problems with it bunching during my hot yoga classes, every time I tried it I always ended up ditching it half way through class in favor of a bare mat, a plain cotton towel, or my yogitoes. Other reviews suggest that a dampened towel provides more grip, yet I actually found it to be more slippery when damp. The only use for this towel is drying off the sweat after class. May 17, 2013
No bunching, but possibly mat-dependent? I did a lot of research on hot yoga towels before purchasing The Towel. Bunching seems to be a common concern across brands. I was a little deterred by several negative reviews here, but I have found no issue with bunching whatsoever. I did not have to wet the towel, as some have suggested doing. I should note that the lack of bunching might have to do with my yoga mat itself. I use an older Lululemon mat (circa 2005 - don't know the name) that is nubby textured (texture is slightly different on each side, but both look almost like the imprint of a fabric weave). I can only speak to my experience with this one particular mat, but wonder if its traction plays a key role in preventing bunching. In any case, I love the way this towel holds up to movement, how absorbent it is, the velvety soft texture, the pretty colour options, and the compactness. I'm quite pleased with it and may purchase another. May 17, 2013
Towels move and gather I love lululemon, but these towels were a huge disappointment for both me and my daughter. We both practice hot yoga, and these towels do not stay put and bunch excessively, even when water is applied before using. The towels are very distracting because I have to keep fixing them. I ended up just using my mat until I purchased other towels to replace these, and these don't move. May 14, 2013
