Cool idea..but just doesn't work I thought this was such a cool idea for a mat, especially since i practice hot yoga. But the minute you sweat this mat just soaks it up and I find my hands and feet slipping. Also for some reason, it won't even stick to the ground! The mat is also incredibly thin and provides no support or cushion. I find my feet and back hurting half way through class. I really wanted to love this, but i think its time to go back to the drawing board lulu. Make this mat thicker and perfect the terry cloth ontop! April 23, 2015
Convenient but slippery in hot yoga This mat has a great grip UNLESS it gets wet (in which case it turns into a slip and slide), so if you plan on sweating a lot its not a great choice for you. Overall I still like it because it can fold so small that I can stuff it in my duffell bag rather than having to carry it rolled up. Also, easy to wash in the machine. It does have a faint rubber smell to it, but it doesn't really bother me April 21, 2015
Slippery when wet. I got this bad boy for Christmas when I first started practicing yoga. I started hot yoga and paired this with a mat I own (similar to a pure mat) the mat moved around like crazy and I stopped using a base mat altogether. Now that I'm pushing myself and going regularly I sweat like crazy and my mat gets saturated, leading to a slippery down dog. Hard to improve when you have the fear of face planting. I've heard the mat is great for hot yoga, but a fellow yogi was given one from a local store when our studio was studio of the month. She didn't care for it at all and stopped using it almost immediately. Lulu, what do you recommend for a new yogi that loves her sweaty bikram practice even though she's slipping and sliding? Awesome Towel Love using this mat towel in heated Vinyasa class. Once it gets wet, it becomes super sticky. I sweat tons during class and this never lets me down. I'm a yoga intructor, students always ask on this product. I LOVE It !! Thanks LuLu April 7, 2015
Very slippery Sadly it is very slippery. Most slippery mat I ever had :-( March 28, 2015
Excellent product with the right care This Towel Mat is as good, or slightly better, than any other high end towel mat. I bought one for my husband to go with his The Big Mat. I think some of the negative reviews are because there are no printed instructions on how to care for a good, quality towel mat as opposed to the cheaper ones that are made sticky for short periods using chemicals, then become useless. Towels like "The Hot (Towel) Mat" and "YogaRat" towels all need to be washed in plain washing soap, no chemicals and definitely NO softener (ever!), at least once (I did it 3 times--you'll know) BEFORE they are ready to be used. And they HAVE to air dry, never in the dryer and never, ever with a dryer sheet. Never use detergent with softeners, liquid softeners alone or dryer sheets. Plain detergent (I am talking no scents, dyes, perfumes, etc... these chemicals coat your towel mat with stuff that gets all over your hangs and feet making you slip.) And if you don't lay it down flat to dry it will lose it's shape over time. If you accidentally mix your Hot (Towel) Mat in with the regular laundry and it gets all coated in gook & fabric softener, all is not lost my friends. A $2.00 box of Arm & Hammer Washing Soap (powder---Amazon, overnight it), your towel, 1/4 cup powder per load, wash 3 times and it will be like it never happened. Care for your towel this way and it will get BETTER over time, and will become your best Savasana buddy. March 16, 2015
Only lasts a year I want to start off by saying how much I LOVE lulu's products. Pracitically all my yoga gear and outfits are from lulu and I have never been disappointed until this mat. I bought this mat about a year ago and I used it on a regluar for my hot yoga classes, apprx 2x a week. Lately, my mat's rubber is not adhering to the floor so I'm having a hard time holding my positions and also, constantly getting out of my position to fix my mat. I really loved this product when I first bought because it caused no problems, but now, not sure if it's because it is now a year old, it doesn't have the quality of what is expected from lulu. I'm looking into buying another mat so I don't strain myself at my practice. I don't recommend this product for avid yogis, as having to buy a new mat every year at this price can become pretty expensive. March 4, 2015
Was really hoping to love it... I asked for this mat as a Christmas present and was so happy to get it! It seemed perfect for my hot yoga practice. It was great for the first few classes (I do about 3 classes per week) but since then I find myself having to re-adjust my mat several times over the course of the hour. It scrunches up a lot, even for my less active, gentler classes. I'm still using it for now but I don't think I will for much longer :(. February 21, 2015
slippery mess The first time I used this towel it worked great!! However... the second and third time I used it I almost slipped multiple times. I take power vinyasa classes and the 2nd and 3rd time I used this towel I was stressed the whole class worried I would fall on my face in downward facing dog. I ended up taking the towel off my mat halfway through class... I had so many hopes for this but it was nothing but dissapointing. February 2, 2015
Not built for a long hot yoga class Let me start off by saying that I have owned this mat for several months and have allowed myself to get to know it well. Also, I should mention that I use this towel mat over Lulu's The Mat for extra cushion, I sweat heavy during hot classes, and the majority of my classes are 90 minutes. With that all said, this mat is everything that Lululemon says it is. Super absorbent, amazing grip, easy to wash/dry, etc. The towel mat has awesome grip that will make you feel ever so sturdy in your poses and after class it is a breeze to throw in the washing machine. The towel mat is a pleasure to have in class up until 45-50 minutes in. Once the towel mat takes on too much saturation it begins to lose the amazing grip qualities that make it a great product. You will begin to slip in your downward facing dogs/crescent lunges and if you are on your back you will emit several embarrassing noises as you roll around. I hoped that the product would wear in after some consistent use and washes but my hopes were never fulfilled. In a nutshell, if you don't sweat heavily this may be the perfect product for you, but in my case this towel will be reserved for room temperature yoga classes (which I never do) for now on because it is not designed for a long, hot yoga class. I wish I could've saved the cash I spent on this towel mat and bought an excellent pair of Lulu's Kung fu pant 2.0 which I will swear by in the hot room. January 25, 2015
