5 Year Basic V
5 Year Basic V
The shirt itself is great the sizing not so much. Be sure to make sure each one fits before washing or you are stuck with it, when its a $10 t shirt its okay to throw it in the rag bin but when its $54 kind of tough to use it to clean the chain on your bike with. I bought 3 online tried one on quickly for size and threw them in the wash the one I tried on was the biggest of course and the rest small and smaller and they are all size large. 1 good, 1 a little too snug, and 1 belly shirt = 1 $170 T shirt. My kids are happy to have comfy nightshirts.

Bring Back the Old 5 Year V Neck
I don't like this newer version of the shirt. The "V" is too deep, and the shirt has changed shape... perhaps to be more inclusive of men with a little more booty in the midsection? Maybe Lululemon should do what other clothing stores do -- have "regular fit" and athletic or "slim fit" versions of the same product, so those of us who are slim and trim don't look like we're wearing a night shirt.
As many reviewers have also mentioned, the fabric is really thin. In fact it is SO thin that my chest hair POKES THROUGH it! Now THAT is weird, man!

They use to be better
Well I use to be a fan of the 5 year basic V t-shirt. But like a lot of people that have posted I agree. Lulu has taken a great product and turned it into something true to it's name "Basic" but left off the 5 year and changed the fit. Hopefully they'll read these posts and bring back the look, fit and quality.

These are awesome
I have a ton of these shirts. They are so comfortable and fit great. I like how they are more fitted in the sleeve than other t's such as the metal vent. However, I would like them to be even a little more fitted than they currently are in the sleeve. Everywhere else is fine. Please make this in the heathered pigment blue.

5-Year Basic V
Have a bunch of these shirts purchased over the years, was considering purchasing a couple more but they seem to have done something to the fabric that makes it ridiculously thin. I was wearing one the other day and when I was taking it off I somehow put my finger right through the shirt at the belly-button of the shirt while trying to take it off. Now there is a finger-sized hole directly in the middle of the shirt. So does anyone know if the fabric is changing back, I have been unimpressed with the new stuff and will probably hold off unless they chage it.

I haven't tried any of the previous generations of this shirt, so I can't compare them. I was introduced to this shirt by one of the employees at the store near me because I complained that another shirt I had purchased didn't fit me quite right, as I seemed to be inbetween sizes.
He suggested this style as it ran a little bit smaller and was a bit more fitted. Fits great, even though I had to go up a size.
I bought the plain grey which looks great at the gym or with jeans

New colors are huge
The old "models" were nice fitting now the latest and newest "models" are very wide in the stomach/chest area.

What Happened to the 5 Year Tees?
I have a set of five year tees from 2-3 years ago that I adore. The material was heavy and substantive feeling and the fit was geared towards athletic guys who had a V-shape in their upper body.
That is no longer the case.
I bought two of these tees (love the stripe and colorblock motif) and the 2013 version is significantly lighter/thinner that what I'd bought in the past. I think this thin-ness in the fabric is what's causing some of the reviewers to have their shirts start to disintegrate after a few washes. Also, I'm a little disappointed that lululemon has changed the fit to be geared towards more tubular shaped men. The fit is fixable with a competent tailor, but it seems like a waste given the price of the shirt.
As a heads up, I'm 5'10", 44 chest, 33 waist and the large is a little too baggy around the midsection and arms.

The 5 Day Basic V
This shirt was awesome the first few wears. Wore it 3-4 times without needing to wash and had quite a few compliments. Unfortunately, after one wash, I discovered just how delicate the fabric was. I washed the shirt on delicate cycle with like fabrics, and hung to dry. Yikes... I counted 3 small holes and few snags, which I haven't seen happen to $10 shirts. Lululemon gave me a credit which I am happy with because I know I'll always come back.
For the record, the previous generation of these shirts was stellar and the 'V' I bought 3 years ago is still going strong after 40+ washes. These new ones however (made of Vitasea) should be pulled or Lulu should just call them the '5 Day Basic V'.

Medium got bigger in body
I used to be a long time buyer of the 5 year Shirts (V and crew). Recently when i went back to purchase more i noticed the medium got much wider in the body. I noticed that the description is no longer 'athletic' fit but now 'slim' fit. There's nothing slim in the body about this shirt. Can you please tailor back to people that are in physical shape with an actual V shape body!! Thanks
