Core Short

A sweat-wicking, four-way stretch fabric that's cool to the touch and fits like a second skin, this technical fabric offers support and smooth, low-friction performance
Woven for strength and no-bulk performance, this four-way stretch fabric moves with us and stays out of our way

why we made this

We designed these long, loose-fitting shorts to wear running or at the gym. We made them without a liner so we can throw them on over our underwear, compression shorts or run tights (and if we go commando, we stay in the back row during Downward Dog).

Core Short 4.2 5 127 128
Great for working out Those who run. Get the shorts hemmed. They are perfect for those who don't like a "basket" in their shorts. Although the seams ripped once, Lululemon fixed them instantly and reinforced stitching and have had no problems since. December 24, 2014
Listen to the customers Never thought I'd write a bad review but after trying two new pairs of shorts I'm wholly disappointed. I have a pair of old core shorts for every day of the week but trying the new patterns, and finding the new tech pocket, they were immediately returned. I have an original pair that fits the entire iPhone 6, some slightly older pairs that fit after stretching the pocket but with the new pairs it's impossible. Why exactly would you be making them this way? Lulu has definitely incorporated feedback and has, in the past, designed the clothing with tech savvy people in mind so it doesn't make sense. Bring back the tech pocket The changes to the core short are good and bad. The shorts still fit me well, and move nicely. However the small side pocket that used to be for a phone or iPod is now too small. I can't even get my iPod nano to fit in it. The change to the flat waistband was great, however I still prefer the old core shorts to the new. After reading many reviews on the changes, I found t interesting that instead of going back to the old deeper tech pocket, Lulu claims it is now a pocket for locker keys. Way to give your customers what they want. November 29, 2014
Not as good as their first version! When this short first came out, it was literally perfect. Fit was awesome, cell phone pocket was a nice compliment to the short and the overall expectation of what I thought of athletic shorts changed completely. I wound up buying 3 pairs. Then Lulu changed the style. The waist band is not the right fit for men. The original waist kept the drop of the material consistent all around the waist instead of bunching in certain areas where there are seams. The draw string is definitely an improvement with the plastic ends versus the the folded sewed end. The pocket for your phone is actually smaller and is a pain to fit in the pocket. The original one was easy to slip in and not worry about spending extra time trying to fit it in. Especially if you want to change the song or check a text. The patterns offered are much better this time around but the positives do not out way the negatives on such a short that was supposed to be functional. Fabric is great, but the structural changes are not up to snuff from what I expect. November 25, 2014
i found the old version everyone is right. the new core shorts have a useless side pocket. luckily, the store i visited had the old version and i was able to compare the two. the side pocket on the new one is maybe one inch deep. if you don't care about the side pocket, then this is a good pair of shorts November 16, 2014
pocket too small this is my second pair of core shorts. i think they fit great and look great. My only complaint is on the new pair i just bought the side pocket is smaller and my phone does not fit well. On the older version the pocket was perfect and my phone fit with ease. Please bring back the larger side pocket and you have a winner again. November 12, 2014
Prefer the older version... I have 4 pair of the Core shorts. My first 3 pair are AWESOME. I mean phenomenal. Best workout shorts ever, possibly. They wick sweat, dry fast, are stretchy and light enough to run in, but strong enough for the most brutal crossfit WODs. The new Core shorts? Meh, not so much. I bought the burlap/camo color and the just feel... Cheap. The fabric is thin, I'm not sure I trust it to last many rounds of deadlifts, olympic lifting or rope climbing. I also dont like that the side pocket was cut in half, it can't even fit a phone. I wont be taking them back, but I dont expect them to outlast my 2-year old pair that i wear every week. I wear each pair at least once a week. I probably won't be buying another pair until they feel sturdier. November 5, 2014
When is change a bad thing? When you have a ton of different styles and variations of styles as new styles and you have soo much free time on your hands that you just HAVE to change up an existing POPULAR style and pass it off with the same name! Too bad you have to pay such close attention to the style you are buying! Such a true shame! I might be able to recommend this style, I own many pairs, but none like they are selling! November 5, 2014
What Happened With the Waist? What happened? These were great like a year ago. But when I bought one of these recent pairs I noticed they redesigned the waist. Now it rides kind of high and looks awkward when I go shirtless. October 29, 2014
Great fit, but needs some improvements I own the current version and and the previous iteration. The fit and fabric are great and are perfect for my cross training workouts. My only suggestion is a return to the cinched/elastic waistband vs the current smooth/seamless one. Echoing the comments of many others, the new phone pocket is now completely useless since upgrading my phone to the iPhone 6. Prior to this, my old iPhone fit perfectly in the shorts and I couldn't even feel that I was carrying it! Please improve! October 28, 2014
