The Hot (Towel) Mat
Has a place in my practice!
I have several different mats that I use for different types of classes. I bought this mat knowing I was doing a bit of travelling this summer and didn't want to be lugging a heavy mat around with me.
I LOVE that this mat folds up and can fit in my carry on. I used it this morning in a hot Moksha class and had a great class. The underside (the mat side) is grippy enough that it didn't slide around too much (it bunched a little bit during a warrior sequence, but nothing major). I found the top (the towel side) sticky enough that my hands weren't sliding in down dog.
The hot towel mat is really thin, so it wouldn't do the trick for me as an everyday mat. I find I have to roll the end up for sleeping hero, camel, etc. as it doesn't offer any cushion for the knees. That said, I'm looking forward to being able to take this mat with me when I travel so I can practice even when I'm away from my home studio.
Also great to keep in the car for a yoga emergency!
Washes up well. Others have commented that their mat stains, but I have not had that experience with this mat.

Pretty good mat
I bought this mat/towel a few months back as I decided I needed something that replaced both my mat and my towel.
A little about my practice:
-I just started practicing yoga, so I am quite early in my practice, therefore, i do not have much knowledge about anything.
-I practice about 5-6 times a week- and its HOT!
I normally don't write reviews, but for some reason I feel like writing one for this product.
-It is very soft- i love it
-It is easy to wipe down
-It absorbs all my sweat, and it can be quite cooling as well!!!
-it fits in my bag, and it doesn't even take up any room when i pair it with my mat!!!- which i love because if i decide to use my mat i dont have to dread having to take two mats in - i just roll them up together
-it slips!!!!! - sometimes I have to fix my mat halfway through my practice- which can be quite distracting for me- nothing horrible though..but can be slightly annoying
- it has a very weird odor, I cant even explain it- it used to bother me but now i think its almost gone as I have been washing it so much
- IT STAINSSSS!!!!!- i CANT even take the stains out! I wash it almost everyday, yet i have a horrible stain from my make up on it which I cant even remove. I am not exactly too sure how to take it off either as I don't want to ruin the mat. I also have this weird black stain on it which i cant get out.. I suppose i just have to be a bit careful.
- no more complaints :)
overall, I really really do love this mat, and i Actually got my friend to purchase it as well (which means i recommend it). The only down fall is that it stains easily, and it can move around...but other than that it is a VERY wonderful mat/towel duo.

Great mat, but tends to slip
I practice hot yoga 3-4 times a week, and am very glad I purchased this mat to replace my mat and towel combo. I love how absorbent this mat is and how easy it is to clean, but I find that it tends to slip around on the floor during my practice. It is not terribly annoying, but I do have to pull it back into place a couple of times during my 75 minute practices. I would definitely recommend this mat, but just be prepared for it to slip around!

The towel definitely soaks up sweat however you end up slipping the entire class. There is not an ounce of grip. I tried using the mat twice the second time I ended up rolling it up and throwing it to the side during class. Now I have a mat I'll never use again. I would not recommend this mat.

the original towel mat was MUCH better
First off, this mat is meant for BIKRAM yoga, people. It is not meant for hardware floors. It's too thin for hardwood floors, unless you plan on using it with another mat which basically defeats the purpose of having a towel and a mat in one.
Secondly, Lulu ruined this mat by getting rid of the grips. I have the original towel mat with the writing which provides a place for your hands and feet to really grip the mat. This mat is slippery without the grips.
Lulu - PLEASE bring back the original towel mat or come up with another way to provide grips at the front and back of the towel mat.
The original towel mat is amazing for bikram yoga. I fold it up and throw it in my bag, go to class, and then throw it in the wash machine when I get home. I've had it for about a year, use it about once a week, and it comes out of the wash machine as good as new.

I practice hot vinyasa flow in a 95 degree room, at least 4 times a week. This towel/mat is a great replacement to the two towels I used to throw down over my mat. I used to spend at least a few minutes each class adjusting the towels mid flow as they bunched up around my feet or having to throw them down at just the right moment (when I'd start sweating/before flowing). This mat stays throughout the entire practice. It does not move in the slightest and i can focus on my technique. Love the tropics color too- makes me feel like i'm on a tropical beach. So pretty!
I'm knocking off a star because it DOES get slick, but I've noticed that only happens when I can't get to the laundromat and I insist on practicing anyhow. The more oil and sweat that accumulates between washes, the slicker it will get towards the end of each practice time. The last couple of classes have been brutally hot, because its officially spring here and there's been a lot of people in yoga trying to get ready for summer. Lots of people=sweating profusely. It's only slick or bothersome for the last few minutes of my flow.
Its also way too thin for use by itself, but i throw it over a mat and the mat underneath looks basically un-touched at the end of class, so it saves me having to wipe mats down daily too.
And while it had a weird smell when I first got it, it basically dissipated after the 2nd time I used it. It wasn't unpleasant- just chemically. I would def recommend this item to sweaty friends.

Great for Bikram - but it stains...
A lot of people are hating on this mat and they shouldn't be - its kind of awesome!
I practice Bikram 3 times a week - i'm super sweaty, 5/11, and weigh more than a feather. This mat prevents me from needing to bring a towel and mat to class, it absorbs the sweat onto the mat (so i'm a conscious yogi and not trashing the floor others need to use to enjoy their practice). It is easy to care for - i rinse mine in the tub after every class, and wash after every second - i've had no problem with odor or anything like that - its actually brilliant really. While i prefer hand-washing all of my lulu items, this mat included, i occasionally toss it in the washer and it holds up fine. I do not put it or anything with rubber in the dryer for obvious reasons.
I do not slip on this mat. I do not need to pour water or do anything to it to make it "work" If i'm not holding my body correctly or distributing my weight correctly, i can slide around, but thats true for any mat so its not a complaint here.
the ONLY negative i have about this mat is that it STAINS. I have it in the fossil/grey color and while its beautiful and neutral (which i love) it picks up stains from almost anything. A new blue lulu-headband i didn't wash before wearing stained it blue - same with a yellow headband (this may be my fault, lesson learned, wash items before wearing) but also even though i was my hands, feet, and face before class, it still gets "dirty" from my hill prints by the end of the the first pose. Also, from any rogue makeup that didn't wash off some how smears and stains. I dont want to scrub this mat and it doesnt come out in the wash so now it does look a bit drab and dowdy.
So 5 stars for being an awesome mat - seriously, if you practice Bikram, you NEED this mat (i also travel with it, super easy to fold up!)
1 star for the grey color that stains and looks dirty and drab - a bummer, but really if you get another color this wouldn't be a big problem.
Venture on friends!

The Hot towel mat
So I tried this while I practiced Bikram Yoga and was very satisfied with how absorbent it was, It also stayed put with no movement. It allowed me to focus without my towel bunching up beneath me. Also Its machine washable so you just throw it in with clothes, so easy I love it!

I have never looked into Lulu mats due to the price of them. Randomly, I found this mat on super sale at my local Hot Yoga studio for $24! Prior to this find, I started using a mat towel due to "slipping & sliding" all of over my mat, so the concept of this Towel Mat seemed even more significant. I have no disappointments with the functionality of this mat. My normal mat is super thick because I am on my knees for most of my workout. I just place the towel mat on top of my normal mat and it stays in place for the duration of my workout (unlike the towel that I have to keep adjusting and fixing). It's perfect and stops me from sliding all over the place. I sweat a lot, so the thought of all the sweat it's collecting grosses me out. I wash it very frequently and it washes well... but the process it time consuming because I don't tumble dry it as directed. I hang it to dry. Ideally, in a perfect world with endless income, I would puchase 6 of these mats... one for each work out during the week and wash on my rest day. For now... I'll stick with one because I'm cheap :)

I bought this mat more than a year ago. I washed it about 100 times and it remains as perfect as day 1.
I do hot yoga 5 times a week in a studio and daily practices at home with it. Best friend.
Obviously it will slip if the studio's floor is humid or if it's not properly dried out.
